Hugh Jackman Demands To Keep His Shirt On

PRESS ASSOCIATION -- Hugh Jackman has revealed he requested to keep his clothes on for Les Miserables.

The Wolverine actor plays prisoner Jean Valjean in Tom Hooper's film adaptation of the musical, based on the Victor Hugo novel, but told Collider he'd requested not to have to take his shirt off again for a film.

He said: "One of the first scenes actually shows him in the prison camp that he's in, being punished and whipped, and stuff like that.

"I said, 'I can tell you right now, if you have me with my shirt off, people are going to say, "You were just doing what Jackman demanded in his contract.' And he said, 'I don't think we need to do it without your shirt,' and I said, 'Good.' So, when you see the movie, you'll see."

Hugh has been cast in the film alongside Russell Crowe, who plays police inspector Javert.

Anne Hathaway is tipped to play Fantine, while Geoffrey Rush and Helena Bonham Carter are in the mix to play drunken pub owner Thenardier and his wife Madame Thenardier.

The film is set to be released next year.
