Dominique Strauss-Khan, the former chief of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), has met with Tristane Banon, the woman who accuses him of attempting to rape her in 2003.
The face-to-face meeting came as investigators questioned them jointly before deciding if Strauss-Khan has a case to answer.
Banon alleges the former IMF boss attacked her during an interview for her book eight years ago.
The accused maintains his innocence, calling her claims “imaginary”.
Both arrived at the police station in Paris to give evidence, but neither commented to reporters.
Strauss-Khan was forced to leave his job at the IMF in May following his arrest on suspicion of attempting to rape a hotel maid in New York.
Before the scandal, DSK had been widely tipped as a potential candidate for the French presidency.
The US case was eventually dropped when the maid’s credibility was called into question.
