Parents have been arrested after they were found to have forced their seven-year-old son to sleep in a COFFIN and wear a nappy.
The little boy was found crying in the basement of the family home, bound with tape. Officers said the house - in north-eastern Pennsylvania - was insect-infected, and later condemned.
The child's parents - his 26-year-old mum Lori Gardner, and stepfather, 31-year-old Brian Sleboda - were taken to prison in lieu of 60,000 US dollar bail after being charged with endangerment and unlawful restraint.
The couple reportedly made no comment as they were led from the Scranton police headquarters after their neighbours phoned the police when they heard the child crying.
The police say the boy asked them 'are you here to help me' when they entered the house. He told them he was often locked in the basement and told there were ghosts in there. He was rescued after neighbours called the police.
