Vincent Tabak Guilty: Double Life Of Sex Fetish Killer Who Murdered Joanna Yeates

Vincent Tabak: Sex Fetish Murderer Who Led A Double Life

After 10 months unanswered questions and an "agonising" trial, David and Teresa Yeates have secured justice for their daughter Joanna Yeates, after a jury found Vincent Tabak guilty of her murder.

On Friday Tabak was told he would serve a minimum of 20 years behind bars for brutally strangling the blonde architect to death on 17 December last year.

Mr Justice Field, when sentencing Tabak, said he was "very dangerous" and a "thoroughly deceitful, dishonest and manipulative" man.

After the jury returned their majority verdict of 10-2, it was revealed Tabak had a stash of pornographic videos on his laptop, depicting violent sex scenes of men with their hands around women's throats.

The evidence, which was ruled to be inadmissable by the judge, also included bondage footage of men bundling women into car boots. Police believe Tabak watched the sex videos before he committed the murder.

There are clear parallels between the video footage and Tabak's actions. After strangling Yeates, apparently because she rebuffed his advances, Tabak dumped her battered body in the boot of his Renault Megane and and drove to Asda to buy crisps and beer. He then texted his girlfriend saying he was "bored".

Even Tabak's legal team described his actions following Yeates's murder as "disgusting".

Tabak also reportedly paid for sex with a prostitute in the United States before he murdered Yeates but the evidence was ruled to be inadmissable by the judge. Tabak's phone was also found to have made calls to escort agencies while on business trips.

Yeates's parents issued a statement following the guilty verdict which was read out by police outside Bristol Crown Court.

"For us, it is a regret that capital punishment is not an option. We hope his life is a living hell", the statement read.

The court heard how Yeates suffered 43 injuries and her frozen body was found in the foetal position with her top pulled up to expose her breast. The judge said the landscape architect had died a "slow, painful" death at the hands of disturbed Tabak.

At a dinner party after Yeates' callous murder, Tabak even described himself as a "totally detached crazy person", when asked by a fellow guest who killed Joanna Yeates.

The Dutch engineer lived a seemingly normal life with the "love of his life" Tanja Morson. But the depraved killer indulged in watching violent pornography and arranged secret meetings with prostitutes.
