John Hemming's Cat Found Safe And Well After Being Stolen By Wife

The saga of John Hemming's cat has ended on a happy note - Beauty has been found safe and well after his wife stole the kitten from the Liberal Democrat MP's lover's home.

Hemming revealed on Saturday that Beauty had been tracked down, saying: "I went to see the cat last night and indeed it was Beauty. We, however, think that she is feeding kittens at the moment, so she has been returned to the lady who had kindly looked after her for a year so that we can try to track down the kittens."

The wife of the Birmingham Yardley MP was found guilty of burglary last month having been filmed on CCTV snatching the animal from the home of Emily Cox in 2010.

In October John Hemming posted on his blog offering a reward for her return. "Kitten Missing." he wrote. "If anyone has seen this kitten please contact me at the House of Commons. There is a reward for its return".

Christine Hemming was given a nine-month suspended sentence at Birmingham Crown court on Friday. The 53-year-old was given 150 hours of community service and will pay costs of £1,000.
