'Jim'll Fix It' Christmas Tribute, With Shane Richie Stepping Into Late Host's Shoes

Your email was only the start of it... Jim'll Fix It to return - with Shane Richie

The spirit of Sir Jimmy Savile is alive and well. Or at least: it will be at Christmas - when the BBC brings back Jim'll Fix It for a one-off special presented by comedian/actor/EastEnder Shane Richie. Although, as Twitter user @loveandgarbage pointed out: they surely missed a trick by not plumping for James May, and calling it James May Fix It.

"I think it will be a great tribute to Jimmy to recreate his famous show as a Christmas treat for audiences," said BBC1 controller Danny Cohen - who also warned that the revival will use the show's original theme tune, but "with a modern twist". (That twist presumably being "Shane'll fix it"?)

"I'm honoured to be part of this and salute Sir Jimmy - and fix it for a new generation," added new host Shane Richie. "It was compulsive television in our house, and all my friends would talk about the fix-its. I even wrote in, but wasn't one of the lucky ones!"

Indeed, if, like Shane, you're one of those who dreamed of having their wish fulfilled many years ago, we're afraid you won't be able to have a second shot this time around. Only under-14s are eligible to enter - so get your son/daughter/niece/nephew emailing fixit@bbc.co.uk by 25 November to be in with a chance.
