Gamers have been banned from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. Over 1600 were kicked off the game over attempts to hack or cheat the system.
Robert Bowling, Creative Strategist on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 tweeted "Any attempt to cheat, hack, or glitch in #MW3 will not be tolerated. 1600+ bans issued. Updates in works. Please cont. to report offenders."
He also tweeted instructions for dobbing in cheaters, writing: "Reporting them in-game through #MW3 goes directly to our security team who issues the bans directly (after verifying)."
So what kind of ban does a bad gamer get? Depends on the crime, according to Bowling. "Every ban unique to the level of douchiness of the offense. The greater the douche the greater the length. PermaDouche possible," he tweets.
MW3 players are taking to Twitter to air their concerns over cheats. Marc Diokno, who tweets as dioknom wrote "@fourzerotwo came across this glitch on outpost, not cool."
Hacks and cheats generally wreck the game for other players, and provoke outrage in gaming forums.
The game's developers, Infinity Ward, have a lot to protect. The first-person shooter racked up more than $400m worldwide in just 24 hours, becoming the biggest entertainment launch of all time.
The game is still at the number one position in UK gaming charts, after the November 8 launch.
More than 1.5 million gamers reportedly queued at 13,000 midnight openings around the globe to grab the game on its release, including many thousands in the UK.
