BBC Radio Newsreader Suffers On-Air Foul-Mouthed Rant

Listen: BBC Radio Newsreader Suffers On-Air Foul-Mouthed Rant

Waking up to the sound of your local radio station can be a pleasant and relaxing way to begin the day. But not yesterday, not if you live in the Scottish Borders.

That's because listeners there got a rude awakening when a newsreader launched into a foul-mouthed rant after suffering a series of technical blunders.

Radio Scotland newsreader Grahame MacGregor had become annoyed when a clip of another journalist became stuck and repeated the words "The Borders" some 38 times during his 7.50am bulletin.

MacGregor tried to fix the problem, but unaware his microphone was still on, the sound of his frantic button pushing was accompanied by an angry tirade.

"Oh b******s", he said. Ohhh. Get me out. What the bloody hell is going on here? S*** what the hell happened there?

"Well f*** it. Great. It's all you want really isn't it...yep… and I don't have Glasgow. What the hell is going on here...technical f*****g faults...ahhhhhh. Forget it."

The broadcast -- which also appeared on the BBC Radio Scotland website -- ended five minutes early and prompted BBC bosses to issue an apology.

"We apologise for any offence caused and we are looking into the matter to find out how the problem with the bulletin arose," they said.
