Woman, 23, Falls Pregnant Seven Times In Five Years Despite Using Contraception

Is This Britain’s Most Fertile Woman?

A young mum has fallen pregnant for the seventh time in five years, despite trying almost every method of contraception available.

Gemma Potter, 23, has tried everything from the Pill, condoms, the coil, progestogen injections to an implant with husband Glenn, 27, but still conceived seven times.

The couple discovered they were expecting in 2006 despite Gemma being on the Pill, but decided it was a one-off. However, Gemma fell pregnant for the second time shortly after the arrival of their first baby, again whilst being on the contraceptive Pill.

After giving birth to their second child, a daughter named Jessica, Gemma decided to change her contraceptive method and had a coil fitted. She later fell pregnant but miscarried.

Gemma then tried the injection but soon discovered that she was pregnant for the fourth time with daughter Sophie. After Sophie was born, Gemma suffered an ectopic pregnancy with her fifth child and later had another miscarriage when she went back on the Pill.

Despite the fertile couple only having sex three times since September and being on the Pill, mum-of-three Gemma is now pregnant with her fourth child.

The frustrated couple believe doctors don’t take them seriously when they asks for super-strength contraception and midwives laugh it off, saying they’re just a ‘fertile couple’.

“I can’t stop getting pregnant,” Gemma told The Sun. “I love my children but I don’t want more. I can’t go out with my friends and have a drink, as I’m constantly pregnant. I’ve also missed out on having a job or any career.”

The couple’s fertile five years has affected their love-life as they’re scared that getting intimate could lead to another pregnancy.

“It is always a shock when Gemma tells me she is pregnant,” adds dad Glenn.
