A mugging victim has told how he tracked down two of his attackers by sifting through Facebook to find their photos.
The robbers who picked on Daniel Kaye laughed moments after they were handed sentences of 12 years and seven years at Teesside Crown Court.
Mr Kaye, 18, discovered Daniel McGill's photo on the social networking site after looking through people his sister was friends with online.
And after finding the 21-year-old, he quickly spotted Gordon Alexander, 30, listed among McGill's Facebook friends.
Mr Kaye went to police with their names weeks after he was robbed in Darlington in July.
He had been attacked by a gang after he pulled over in his car to take a late-night call on his mobile phone. They took money and his phone off him at knife-point, leaving him terrified. He was even told to take off his T-shirt so the robbers could use it to clean their fingerprints off his car.
Speaking after the pair were locked up, he said: "I went through my sister's Facebook account and I noticed them on there. It only took me five minutes to find them."
The pair were convicted by a jury who deliberated for less than an hour. A third member of the gang has not yet been identified.
Unemployed Alexander, of no fixed address, was found guilty of two robberies and an attempted robbery, and was sentenced to a total of 12 years by Judge Peter Fox, the Recorder of Middlesbrough. McGill, a plasterer, of Aintree Court, Darlington, was jailed for seven years for his part in attacking Mr Kaye.
