LOOK: Rare UFO-Shaped Cloud Spotted In West Yorkshire

Photographer Jonathan Selwood-Hogg thinks it looks like a UFO from Flight Of The Navigator. His son, William Selwood-Hogg thinks it looks like a humpback whale.

By us, it looks like a thoroughly amazing cloud - and that's not something you often hear.

Perhaps not as jaw-dropping as Alabama's recent "Wave Clouds", it's still one hell of a "visible mass of liquid droplets or frozen crystals made of water and/or various chemicals suspended in the atmosphere above the surface of a planetary body" (thanks Wikipedia).

Not an actual photographer by trade, Selwood-Hoff is actually a 41-year-old business development manager from Huddersfield - one who just so happened to drive past the odd cloud over the Christmas period.

Taking his five-year-old swimming in Halifax, he spotted the "spaceship" out of his window before stopping the car and taking a few snaps.

Officially an "Altocumulus Lenticularis" cloud, it's the same type of cloud that brings about the most UFO sightings in the world.

But if you want to see a lenticular cloud for yourself, you probably best head over to the Himalayas, where they are most often spotted "in the wild". Failing that, why not stop over to the Faroe Islands, where maybe you could spot a "cupcake cloud" if you're very, very lucky...
