A reward of up to £10,000 has been offered to help find the killer of retired schoolteacher Betty Yates who was found stabbed at her cottage in Worcestershire.
The Crimestoppers charity is offering the reward for information about the "cowardly" murder of 77-year-old Betty Yates, whose body was discovered at her riverside cottage near Bewdley, Worcestershire, on January 4.
The popular pensioner, who was a member of several local organisations, including Bewdley Civic Society, had been attacked with her own walking stick and had also been stabbed in the neck.
Mrs Yates was found at the foot of the stairs in her cottage, Riverscroft, and detectives believe she was killed on the evening of January 2.
Crimestoppers' regional manager for the West Midlands, Pauline Hadley, said: "This cowardly attack is especially cruel, with a defenceless elderly lady being murdered in her own home.
"This is a shocking crime and someone knows who might have done this.
"On behalf of the devastated community we appeal for anyone with any information that might help find the murderer to contact Crimestoppers immediately.
"Tell us who is responsible so that we can bring peace for Mrs Yates' friends and family."
The charity guarantees the anonymity of anyone who calls its hotline or who passes on information online using a secure form at www.crimestoppers-uk.org.
The reward of up to £10,000 is being offered for information provided to Crimestoppers through its anonymous telephone service that leads to an arrest and conviction of the individual or persons responsible for the murder.
Anyone with information should contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
