At Jonathan Saunders, Paul from Frederic Fekkai confessed that the look had to change as the original style was hiding the clothes too much.

Instead, he created a "simplified chic" ponytail which had an equestrian influence. "The idea of obsession and discipline that goes into creating a detailed, perfect ponytail at the nape of the neck inspired this super tight, clean look", he said backstage.

He's not the first to choose the pristine style in London this season either. The younger, sportier ponytail is having a bit of a moment, with stylists looking to Japan for hair inspiration.

Paul used Fekkai's Strong Hold Mousse for added grit and substance, as well as Sheer Hold Hairspray, which was swept through the hair with a brush. Hair was bound with a thick elastic band so that the ponytail protruded from the head, before Light Spray Shine was added, which was activated from the heat of the hair irons.

As for the makeup, Mac's Senior Artist Debbie described the look as "beautiful but real, with flawless skin". Mineralize Skin Finish added warmth to the cheeks while the eyes were left bare, with Mac Clear Lip Glass on the lids and curled, but mascara-free lashes.

The brows were defined with eyeshadows in grey Omega, and the look was finished with a classic matte red lip, which was created using Basic Red Chromographic Pro Pencil.
