You expect websites to remember your log in, so what if every car you stepped into could read your mind, completely personalising any car you drive?
Paul Mascarenas, Ford's Chief Technical Officer, today announced that Ford's car of the future, the EVOS concept car would do exactly that.
Tapping into the information you've stored in the cloud, a "digital handshake" would transport your personal preferences to every car you drive.
Talking to The Huffington Post UK, Mascarenas said: "Imagine you drive a Mondeo in Barcelona, and you pick up a hire car in London. When you step into that car, it would know all your preferences including the way you drive and temperature you prefer.
We do everything on our smartphone, so why should that stop when you get in your car?"
It's yet to be determined how EVOS will capture your cloud-stored information, but Ford is working with security experts to make sure your information is secure.
Mascarenas envisages a day when your car will know you as you walk towards it: "Imagine a car that is already at the right temperature, it's already de-iced and it's maybe even playing your favourite music when you get in."
It's not jut about music, the Evo will help save you fuel, and the energy of the battery cell, he adds: "What the cloud connected car can do is understand the traffic conditions, understand the route you take, and preserve your battery power for the city, letting you use fuel on the motorway."
While the concepts in EVOS will slowly be rolled out over the next five to 10 years, the new Ford B Max will be in showrooms this year.
The Ford B Max features Sync technology, first introduced in the US in 2007. Sync can make an emergency call on your behalf following an accident in nine European languages and will respond to voice commands to manage music, calls and sms.
In a keynote speech on Monday evening, Bill Ford will demonstrate the EVOS and the driver's "personal cloud" of information.
He will discuss how historical driver behaviour, travel patterns, weather information and even the driver's schedule, could deliver a highly personalised driving experience that can enhance fuel efficiency, safety, time management and driving enjoyment.
