Germany's famous earless baby bunny has come to an unprepossessing end after a clumsy cameraman accidentally stepped on the rabbit during a press conference.
The earless bunny had captured the hearts of the popular press, in the same country that made Knut the polar bear and Heidi the opossum into celebrity stars.
'Til' who suffered from a genetic defect that meant she was born without ears, had been burrowing in hay before the accident happened. Her sandy fur meant that by the time she was spotted it was too late.
Zoo director Uwe Dempewolf told Spiegel magazine Til did not suffer: "It was a direct hit."
Paul the celebrity Octopus was also of German origin. He was said to have predicted the results for eight football matches
