It's World Poetry Day today, and what better way to celebrate than with a little extra lyricism in our lives?
The pace of life in 2012 can make sitting down and indulging in a bit of poetry seem, well, indulgent. It can be difficult to try and relate to artfully-created verses when we're bombarded by thousands of 140-character tweets, text messages and emails.
But, today of all days, it shouldn't be forgotten that there is a poem out there for almost every situation, written by a poet who is sharing their experience. And it's not always just the big issues that make their way into stanzas and sonnets, either - who can forget the practical anonymous advice about eating peas, or Spike Milligan's ode to his granny on a windy day?
So in honour of such things, on World Poetry Day, we've compiled an essential list of cut-out and keep everyday poetry quotations. Enjoy, and if you have a personal day-saving poem, leave it in the comments below!
