Terrifying Moment As 1500lb Bull Takes On Rodeo Rider At Ty Murral Invitational (PICTURES)

Hide And Eek! Rodeo Riders Risk Lives To Stay On Bucking Bull

This is the hair-raising moment one rodeo rider came perilously close to death, after 1500lb of muscular snorting rage reared up above the professional bull rider at the Ty Murray Invitational in New Mexico.

Duncan faces Tremors while competing in the Pro Bull Riders Ty Murray Invitational

Douglas Duncan fought to fend off Tremors the bull while competing in the Pro Bull Riders Ty Murray Invitational.

The bull's gargantuan black face is reminiscent of the mythical minotaur, and rider Duncan was left cowering in the dust.

Each bull is given a profile on the event's website, with Tremors listed as four years old and weighing 1500lbs.

Thousands of dollars are at stake for these professional rodeo riders, which goes some way to explaining why these thrill-seeking cowboys were willing to take their life in their hands to see who can stay on the bucking bull the longest.

Inside a dusty arena in Albuquerque, New Mexico, thirty five professional bull riders limbered up to mount the bucking beasts.

Emilio Resende got his foot tangled in the strap while riding Mr. Slim at the Ty Murray Invitational

Bull rider Emilio Resende also had a close call with the ironically named "Mr Slim", a white and black spotted bull. Coming face to face with more than one ton of snorting horned muscle, riders can only stay on his back for an average of 3.59 seconds.

The spur of his cowboy boot catching in the stirrup, Resende was almost trampled by the bull, as the animal threw out its Herculean hind quarters.

However only two riders received minor injuries during the competition. A professional championship, the bull riders can win up to $40,000 or £25,200, with judges awarding scores to those who stay on longer than eight seconds.
