The first trailer for Sacha Baron Cohen's latest big screen comedy outing, The Dictator, wasn't that impressive. Bar the 'winning the race by shooting everyone else' gag, it was just shots of Baron Cohen being rich, offensive and sporting a massive beard.
Plus, there was that sleeping-with-Megan-Fox gag. Icky.
Then we had the whole Oscars furore, which saw The Dictator throwing 'the ashes of Kim Yong-Il' over US super-interviewer Ryan Seacrest. Plenty of international attention? Sure. Side-splittingly hilarious? Not really.
Today, we've got the second proper trailer for The Dictator - and would you believe it, it's actually quite funny. Revealing that The Dictator gets abducted by agents of the United States government, stripped of his clothing, money and beard, then set back out into the wilds of New York, suddenly the humour button gets firmly thwacked by Baron Cohen and his comedy comrade, Anna Faris.
Now it's always tempting to get excited when an actually funny movie trailer comes along, so we're trying to reserve judgement on this one - but still, it's encouraging.
