John Peel’s record collection is to go online, thanks to the John Peel Centre for Creative Arts.
Over the next six months, details of some 2,600 albums from the late DJ’s eclectic collection will be shared online.
Speaking with The Guardian, Peel’s widow Sheila Ravenscroft said: “It's a very personal look at John's collection.
“I think people are going to be very interested as to what's in the collection. They will be amused and intrigued by it.”
Peel was the longest-serving of the original BBC Radio DJs, having worked there for almost 40 years.
His Peel Sessions, where artists would record live in BBC studios, paved the way for station’s current – and very successful - Live Lounge sessions.
Peel was appointed an OBE in 1998 for his contribution to music and, following his death in 2004, a stage at Glastonbury Festival dedicated to new bands was named after him.
