Prometheus was originally written as a prequel to the Alien films but, as it developed, it quickly took on a life of its own. Although Scott has admitted there are overlaps, Prometheus stands independent of the previous films.
After a group of scientists discover that human life has been created on another planet, the crew of the spaceship Prometheus set off to find out more. Their mission takes them to an advanced alien civilisation and they soon discover a threat to the existence of us earthlings.
The film stars Noomi Rapace, Charlize Theron and Michael Fassbender, and is released on June 1 in the UK.
