Music fans and Apple iPad owners rejoice. The Spotify iPad app is here.
The much-hankered-for app has an easier search and browse to trawl the 18 million available songs, a new 'now playing’ full-screen view with rich cover art, integrated search for playlists, users and music, trending song lists and gapless playback and cross fade.
The new app also enables AirPlay integration, turning your iPad into a loungeroom sound system if that's your bag.
To use Spotify for iPad you’ll need a Spotify Premium subscription, free trial of premium is available to those yet to subscribe.
The reaction to the app is mixed. Cnet says the app could do with a view to see all the albums for a single artist, and that cover art is one of the best features.
The Guardian says "a streaming music iPad app makes more sense to me as a remote control for a hi-fi than as a standalone experience. But that does require an AirPlay-compatible hi-fi or speakers. A bit of a niche, for now."
Spotify Founder Daniel Ek recently made it onto the The Sunday Times music rich list. Ek, 29, placed equal tenth with Mick Jagger and the Beckhams, with a worth of £190 million.
