Vintage-inspired hair and makeup made its return to the red carpet at the Met Gala 2012 last night, with Claire Danes and Jessica Alba completing their glam gowns with retro styles.

Chastain paired her bejewelled Louis Vuitton dress with side-swept, volumised curls, a matte, cherry red lipstick and minimal eye makeup, while Alba channeled old Hollywood glamour with her longer version of the style, finished with a subtle, smoky eye.
As for our favourite beauty look of the night, Claire Danes and her beehive won us over. A flick of eyeliner and a nude lip colour completed her 60s style perfectly.
