Tonight's TV Pick: Moving Memories For Quentin And Ann

War Hero In My Family - Channel 5, 8pm

Motoring journalist Quentin Wilson and Former MP Ann Widdecombe go on a journey to uncover the stories of their relatives, who made valuable contributions during the course of the Second World War.

Like a wartime Who Do You Think You Are?, the show sees Wilson discover his father Bernard played a role in breaking a vital enemy cipher at Bletchley Park in Buckinghamshire. And Widdecombe gets a shock when she learns her uncle Donald was an army chaplain who joined the Queen's Royal Regiment and served on the front line in Egypt at the Second Battle of El Alamein.

"Uncle Don never complained about any of that, but he endured it day in, day out for years, and then he came home and spent the rest of his life as a vicar in a sleepy Dorset village. This programme helped me reach into the memories he never voiced."

The Town Taking On China - BBC2, 8pm

Also on the box tonight is the first in this two-part documentary series, set-up like a reality show, which sees a cushion manufacturer in China attempt to bring his business back to Britain as Chinese staff begin to demand much higher pay.

The executive embarks on an experiment to bring his manufacturing back to his homeland by opening a factory in Kirkby, near Liverpool. Expect wage battles and crushed dreams.
