An 83-year-old woman was trapped in her deckchair for nearly six hours before being rescued by firefighters.
She became trapped when the fabric seat on her chair ripped at about 8am yesterday, leaving her bottom lodged within the frame of the chair and her legs in the air, North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said.
She was freed after a passing fire crew heard her cries for help at around 1.50pm.
The 83-year-old woman suffered a six hour ordeal
Fire fighters climbed on to her balcony from a next door neighbour's flat in Northway, Scarborough, North Yorkshire, and helped her out of the chair.
A North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman said: "This was an unusual incident, but fire fighters are trained for every eventuality."
Paramedics from the Yorkshire Ambulance Service were also called just before 2pm and treated the pensioner at the scene.
She was then taken to Scarborough District Hospital for further treatment.
