WATCH: Flamboyant Enough For Queen?

Adam Lambert is having quite a summer - preparing to tour with rockers Queen in place of their legendary late frontman Freddie Mercury, and also becoming the first openly gay musician to top the US Billboard Chart.

The former American Idol has gone to the top of the US chart with his album, Trespassing, including the single Never Close Our Eyes, featured above.

Lambert is not the first gay musician to top the US chart - Sir Elton John and George Michael have both made it there, too - but he's the first performer to do it after coming out, something Lambert tweeted thanks for:

"Thank you to the Glamily for helping me make HISTORY!"

Lambert told AOL Music the album's title was "figuratively" inspired by his own life. "I do feel like a trespasser, but not in a literal sense, because I don't think I've broken into any property recently," he said. "I'm pretty eccentric, and as far as the music industry is concerned, I feel like a bit of an outsider. There are times when I feel like I'm breaking new ground by breaking in."

Sounds perfect for Queen. Here's some behind-the-scenes action below...
