England have left their Krakow hotel base after their Euro 2012 elimination at the hands of Italy.
Manager Roy Hodsgon and captain Steven Gerrard held court at a press conference this morning as they reflected on their 4-2 defeat on penalties to the Italians.
On the future, Hodgson said: "We have to be optimistic. We have to believe.
"There are good young players. We are doing well at under-21 level. It'll be good to see how we do at the Olympics."
Gerrard, 32, added his desire to continue captaining his country.
"I've loved it [the captaincy], I've loved the responsibility and I've enjoyed every minute of it.
"I've had a brief chat with the manager, I'm available as long as I'm wanted at this level. The manager has told me he wants me to continue and carry on."
