Researchers in Europe are working on new 3D technology which they say could lead to images as 'realistic as real life' within four decades.
According to a report by Humans Invent the tech could make the 'Holodeck' seen in Star Trek a reality - something long dreamed of by futurists and, frankly, nerds.

"The ultimate goal is to make a holographic display and what I mean by that is a display that shows images that are indistinguishable from reality," said Sharp 3D reseacher Jonathan Mather.
While it's clear from the report that the tech still has a long way to go, it's exciting to hear how close we really are to sending Spock back to 1940s Germany.
Take a look, above.
