Farmville 2: Zynga Announces New Version Of Flagship Game

Zynga has announced a sequel to its most popular video game, the virtual farming simulator and (colossal cash cow) Farmville.

Farmville 2 will be released soon, the social gaming company said at its Zynga Unleashed event, and will render its various crops, cows and flowers in full 3D.

But Zynga said users will not be able to import their old farms into the new game, leading to questions about whether it will gain wide adoption by fans.

All of the game's animations, buildings and items will be three dimensional, in what the company's CTO Cadir Lee hopes will give "a certain pop" to the new title, which is still largely played on Facebook.

It will also feature Minecraft-style 'farming', where items can be produced and combined to make more complex products.

In March 2010 more than 80 million people were registered as active Farmville users, though that has recently dipped to around 20 million, the BBC said.

Several other new games were announced at the conference, including The Ville, which is a successor to YoVille and which looks similar to The Sims Online.

Users will be able to build and decorate homes, host parties and interact with their friends. The game will be launched on Facebook and Zynga.com on 27 June.

Another -ville game, ChefVIlle, will allow players to create a restaurant or cafe while serving customers with new dishes they create themselves.

Zynga Elite Slots will be a new slot machine game, while 'Matching With Friends' will be a social puzzle game coming to Apple's iOS on Wednesday and Android platforms soon after.

The company also announced a Zynga With Friends network, which it hopes will be a platform for other games to build upon with all of the social features familiar to existing Zynga titles.,
