Simon Cowell Hires A Plane To Spell Out Birthday Message To Cheryl Cole Over Las Vegas Sky

Revenge Is Sweet

The banter between Cheryl Cole and Simon Cowell is something much missed in the world of celeb since that whole X Factor USA debacle of which we no longer speak.

But their cheeky relationship looks to be back on track as Simon has reaped his revenge on Chezza for teasing him about his age on his birthday last year.

Back in October, Cheryl flew a plane (well she didn't, she got someone else to do that bit for her) with a banner attached to fly over Simon's LA mansion, reading: "Simon Cowell is 52 today! Ha ha ha! Love Cheryl xoxo."

The X Factor boss has now reciprocated the gesture by hiring a jet to fly over the Encore hotel in Las Vegas, where she was celebrating her 29th birthday over the weekend, writing a 10-mile long greeting in vapour.

He's always got to go one better, that one.

"Cheryl - Congratulations you’re 30 next year! ha ha ha Love Simon x," it read.

The pair first began speaking following Cheryl's axing from the US version of The X Factor, when she burnt an effigy of Simon during a trip to visit the troops in Afghanistan.

She told GQ magazine earlier this year it helped to break the ice between them.

"The troops in Afghanistan thought it would be funny to dress one of the test dummies as Simon and blow him up in front of me," she explained.

"It felt great actually. When I landed back in England there was a message from Simon - 'Hello, Cheryl. So now that you've blown me up in Afghanistan can we talk?' - and we did."

She added: "I'm not one of those people who holds a grudge about anything and I know exactly what went down."
