Picture Of The Day: Pandas Descend On Central London

It's world Panda Awareness Week, and what better way to celebrate that fact than to get 108 people to dress up in panda outfits and ask them to dance about a wet and windswept Trafalgar Square, eh?

Inspired by Tai Chi, the dance was all dreamt up by the guys over at Chengdu Panda Base, a giant panda research centre in Southwest China's Sichuan province - and each of 108 'pandas' represent the real-life equivalents who live in Chengdu.

The head of the Chengdu Panda Base, Zhang Zhihe, had this to say about the event:

"Our ultimate goal is to help the pandas return to their natural habitat and to increase the number of giant pandas living in the wild. We hope that Panda Awareness Week can help us gain more support for panda conservation and find new advocates for this very special cause."

Here's to that! And here's to more people in panda suits on the Tube, too! Can never get enough people in panda suits in a crowded transport system, and no mistake...
