Noel Edmonds is in talks for a potential to return to BBC1 for a Saturday entertainment show.
The host of Channel 4's Deal Or No Deal is in discussions to host a programme which could replace Total Wipeout.
Edmonds was was once a Saturday night staple with his long-running Noel's House Party series until it was axed in 1999.
A source confirmed he was in line to present a pilot version of planned show The Bodyguard in which contestants take part in a number of challenges. The pilot, to be filmed over the summer, is not due for transmission.
Edmonds, 63, largely disappeared from mainstream TV after the cancellation of his House Party series but made a comeback in 2005 when C4 booked him for Deal Or No Deal. He has also hosted Sky's Are You Smarter Than A Ten Year Old? and made a one-off BBC appearance when he hosted a National Lottery show.
