Theo Walcott Next To Leave Arsenal? (FOOTBALL TRANSFER TALK AND RUMOURS)

TRANSFER TALK AND GOSSIP: Theo Next To Go?

A civil war is brewing at Arsenal in light of Robin van Persie expressing his desire to leave. Second majority shareholder Alisher Usmanov has publicly questioned owner Stan Kroenke's strategy for the club in light of the Dutchman stating the inevitable, and now Theo Walcott's exit is being mooted.

Walcott, who joined Arsenal from Southampton in January 2006, has also entered the final year of his contract and having not won anything with the Gunners may also be tempted to leave. The Sun say he is considering his future as Van Persie confirms his lies elsewhere.

So where will the Dutchman be off to? Both Manchester clubs and Juventus have been suggested, but it is the latter who the Mirror have pencilled in as favourites to land the 28-year-old.

That tactic of offering a paltry £8m earlier in the week appears to have initiated the turn of events which have beckoned Van Persie towards the Emirates departure lounge, and with the Bianconeri on the up again after their 2012 Scudetto win, the attraction is obvious.

Juve only moved into their new Juventus Stadium last year as well, and with club icon Alessandro del Piero having left after the last campaign, a void is left to be filled despite Il Pinturicchio not being a first-team regular in his final Serie A campaign. Van Persie could revert back to his favoured trequartista role too.

Victor Moses and Chelsea haven't been used in the same sentence for a while after Wigan Athletic rejected a bid for the forward last month, but the Mirror return with a vengeance by reporting the Blues' hopes to tie up a £10m bid for him.

Hulk emerged as a priority signing for Roman Abramovich last summer, but maybe Roberto di Matteo is flexing his managerial muscles by targeting the 21-year-old.

As HuffPost UK Sport commented earlier this week, Manchester United are courting FC Porto's João Moutinho, and now The Times report a £20m offer has been tabled for the midfielder. In addition to that, Tottenham Hotspur also crop up in Rory Smith's piece, chiming with what had previously been stated on this site.

Moutinho had an excellent Euros

Spurs' financing on any move for Moutinho may possibly depend upon who they flog. Luka Modrić's departure seems inevitable, but Rafael van der Vaart has emerged as a surprise potential departure. Tottenham are willing to listen to offers, say the Mail, less than a week after the Dutchman extolled his adoration for one of his former clubs, Hamburg.

Jack Butland, who will likely be between the sticks for the Team GB football, is a target for André Villas-Boas, as well as France goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, various outlets report. Gerard Houllier once bought Jerzy Dudek and Chris Kirkland at the same time in 2001, and that didn't end well.

Spurs, who were interested in Real Madrid's classy midfielder Lassana Diarra last year, may be back in for the Frenchman again. The 27-year-old played for Chelsea, Arsenal and Portsmouth in the Premier League, as the north London club bid to bring him back, allege the Metro.

Continuing with Spurs, rumours they are keen on Manchester United's underwhelming 19-year-old Ezekiel Fryers could come to fruition. Sir Alex Ferguson said of Fryers earlier this week the club "haven’t heard anything from" him and "don’t know what’s happening there".

Occasional footballer Wayne Bridge, 31, is wanted by Brighton on loan from Manchester City next season. City are desperate to sell the boyfriend of Frankie from The Saturdays, say the Mail again.

And remaining with City, and David Silva could be about to pen a five-year contract worth £52m, say the Daily Star.
