Barnsley School Under Fire For Swearing Lesson For 11 Year Olds

When Is 'F*** Off' Appropriate For An 11 Year Old?

A Yorkshire school has come under fire for holding lesson in which 11-year-old children were asked to grade swear words, including 'fuck' and 'shit'.

Teachers gave Year Seven students at Shafton Advanced Learning Centre in Barnsley a worksheet entitled 'Acceptable Or Not', in which they asked about the appropriateness of using swear words in certain situations such as telling a friend to fuck off, shouting fuck off across a classroom, in a shopping centre or in assembly and even using the c-word.

Other occasions included when it was appropriate to say shit, calling someone a dickhead and telling someone to bugger off. None of the swear words on the worksheet was censored.

"I was just disgusted, it was a shock," said Karen Young, stepmother of 12-year-old Lauren Sparks who brought the worksheet home, adding: "I don't swear in front of children and don't think they should be subjected to this."
