Kate Middleton 'Topless' Pictures Shock: A History Of Royal Media Mishaps

A History Of Royal Media Mishaps

As the Duchess of Cambridge becomes the latest royal to endure a nude photo scandal, we’ve taken a look back at the various media mishaps that have befallen the Windsors over the years.

Indeed this is not the first time these particular newlyweds have seen their private lives intruded upon. They were "upset" after an Australian magazine published snatched photographs of the couple on their honeymoon in the Seychelles last year.

A set of images of the swim-suit clad couple on a yacht in Ibiza before their marriage were withdrawn from circulation at the request of the Middleton family. The pair were snapped sunbathing, slathering themselves in mud and leaping into the sea.

By now most of the world is familiar with Prince Harry’s naked shenanigans in Las Vegas. The Prince was pictured in his birthday suit during a game of strip billiards during a party held in his private suite.

Kate's sister Pippa Middleton was in hot water after being pictured in a car next to a friend who apparently waved a gun at paparazzi.

Pippa, while not a royal herself, was hurled into the media spotlight after her sibling’s nuptials last year, and the 27-year-old's escapades will be indelibly linked to The Firm, as Britain's sovereign heads are nicknamed, from now on.

And who could forget the time Prince Charles was caught on camera branding BBC reporter Nicholas Witchell “awful” and claiming he “couldn’t bear that man” during a photoshoot?

There was an unseemly incident when Prince Harry became involved in a scuffle outside a nightclub, which climaxed with him leaping out of the car and lashing out at a photographer?

And in 1980 Princess Diana was “mortified” when a snap which showed her legs silhouetted through her skirt. Just 19 at the time, the future wife of Prince Charles was working at a kindergarten in London when the picture hit the stands.

The game was up for Diana and Charles when secretly recorded footage was leaked to the press in which the heir to the throne was heard telling his mistress Camilla Parker Bowles: “I want to be reincarnated as a tampon and live inside your trousers for ever.”

Sophie Rhys-Jones, now the Countess of Wessex, was left red-faced when a topless photograph of her was published ahead of her marriage to Prince Edward. The royal bride-to-be was snapped apparently frolicking in the back seat of a car with Chris Tarrant.

Footage of Mike Tindall, the husband of Zara Philips caused another headache for the blue-bloods after it apparently showed the England Rugby International kissing a blonde woman in a New Zealand nightclub.
