Garth Crooks Suggests Morrison For England... But He Plays For Scotland

Garth Crooks' Team of the Week is a weekly collection of gobbledygook which could be subjected to ridicule, but we resist. However James Morrison's fine form has brought the BBC pundit into the limelight after Crooks suggested him for an England call-up... even though Morrison plays for Scotland.

If you're the sympathetic type, Morrison was born in England, played for the national side's youth teams and has been a Premier League footballer with Middlesbrough and now West Brom. Furthermore, few English people actually watch Scotland.

BEFORE:

But but but... Crooks is a paid-up football analyst whose incompetence is renowned nationwide and yet he has been a significant part of the BBC's football coverage for nearly two decades.

"James Morrison is a player Roy Hodgson should be taking a keen interest in," waxes Garth, oblivious to his Scottish loyalties.

AFTER:

That he doesn't know Morrison has played 23 times for Scotland is, in his industry, still a breathtaking display of ineptitude.

His mistake was hastily erased by the BBC website, but not quickly enough for the internet's speediest screen cappers.
