Barack Obama may have received a boost to his presidential campaign after winning the support of New York mayor Michael Bloomberg, but Mitt Romney has secured the most sought after endorsement: Mr Burns.
With just four days to go until election day, the maniacal owner of the Springfield nuclear plant from The Simpsons has thrown his support behind the Republican challenger.
"I have to say that despite those unimaginably good job numbers we're feeling pretty confident," he says. "There is only one thing that might deny us the presidency."
"It's a shaggy dog story about an actual shaggy dog. Apparently while on vacation old Mitt strapped his mutt to the roof of his car for a brief 650mile jaunt."
Mr Burns' intervention is not the first time The Simpsons has poked fun at the election. In a clip posted in September, Homer struggles with who to vote for.
"Oh man not another election," he complains. "Why do we have to choose our leaders, isn't that what we have the supreme court for?"
Homer adds: "Barack Obama? I don't know. He promised me death panels and Grandpa is still alive."
