BAFTA Nominations 2013: 'Lincoln' Beats British Films 'Les Miserables' And 'Skyfall' To Scoop The Most Nods

Who Has Stolen The BAFTA Nods From 'Skyfall'?

British films 'Les Miserables' and 'Skyfall' failed to earn the most nods in this year's BAFTA nominations, with American flick 'Lincoln' coming out on top.

Steven Spielberg's Presidential biopic received 10 nominations and Tom Hooper's adaptation of the West End musical 'Les Miserables' came away with nine, as did the film adaptation of Ang Lee's 'Life Of Pi'.

Daniel Day-Lewis (as Abraham Lincoln) in 'Lincoln'

James Bond film 'Skyfall' was expected to earn the lion's share of the British nominations, but lost out on Best Film to 'Argo', 'Les Miserables', 'Life Of Pi', 'Lincoln' and 'Zero Dark Thirty'. It picked up eight nominations in total, with Javier Bardem earning a Supporting Actor nod and Judi Dench being recognised as a Supporting Actress.

'Skyfall' Stars Naomie Harris, Daniel Craig, Berenice Marlohe

However, Daniel Craig lost out on any Best Actor recognition to Ben Affleck ('Argo'), Bradley Cooper ('Silver Linings Playbook'), Daniel Day-Lewis ('Lincoln'), Hugh Jackman ('Les Misérables') and Joaquin Phoenix ('The Master').

Read out by Jeremy Irvine and Alice Eve, the nominations also favoured weighty films such as Kathryn Bigelow's 'Zero Dark Thirty', 'Django Unchained' and 'Anna Karenina' who all scooped five nods.

The glamourous Awards will take place on Sunday 10 February and will be held for the seventh year running at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden.

Hosted by Stephen Fry, and sponsored by EE, the British Academy Film Awards in 2013 will be broadcast exclusively on BBC One and BBC One HD that evening, preceded by a red carpet show on BBC Three.
