A smashing volley from Rafael da Silva gave United the lead at Loftus Road before Giggs settled the contest towards the end. Elsewhere in the capital, Santi Cazorla was the hero as he hit a double for the Gunners after Andreas Weimann had equalised midway through the second period.

West Brom defeated Sunderland 2-1 at the Hawthorns, Wigan lifted themselves out of the relegation zone with a precious 3-0 victory at Reading, and in the early kick-off a sublime Dimitar Berbatov volley earned Fulham just their fourth victory in 19 Premier League games. Jonathan Walters had a penalty saved by Mark Schwarzer shortly after the pause.
