Sonte Film Digital Shading: WiFi Windows Turn Opaque At Will (VIDEO)

Opening Curtains Too Much Effort?

Ever found opening and closing your curtains a bit well... of an effort?

Well fear no more because once again advanced technology has been put to good use to make your life incrementally better.

Sonte film is a 'digital shading technology' that can be fitted to regular windows and allows them to go from opaque to transparent at the touch of a button.

Just like that

The new windows can even be controlled via an app on your iPhone so you don't even have to get out of bed.

The technology is an elegant alternative to curtains particularly if you have a modern and slightly flashy apartment. The makers promise it is easy to install and can be retrofitted to any window.

The film consists of two layers of plastic in between which are particles suspended in a liquid. In its normal state these particles are arranged randomly and absorb light making the film opaque. When an electric current is applied however, the particles line up together allowing light to pass through.

The film also absorbs UV light and consumes only five watts per m2 when on (transparent).

Sonte film is being crowd-funded on Kickstarter and so far has $70,556 pledged of a $200,000 goal.
