Royal Baby: Media Sets Up Camp Outside Hospital As Kate Middleton Prepares To Give Birth (PICTURES)

If reports are to be believed, the Royal baby is not yet due for another fortnight or so.

But the world’s media is taking no chances – with photographers and cameramen already vying for the top spots outside the private Lindo wing of St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington, London.

Stepladders, tripods and crowd barriers are already in place as members of the media await the first signs of the baby’s arrival.

Perhaps the panic was sparked by the suspension of four parking bays in front of the hospital – from 1 – 31 July – a heavy hint the future monarch could be born sooner rather than later.

Local shopkeeper Raj Venkat told AFP he had been inundated with requests for painter’s stepladders.

Snappers will no doubt be hoping to get a shot of the new parents on the steps of the Lindo wing - just like this one of Prince William with Charles and the late Diana in 1982 (below)

“I didn’t know what was going on, everybody all arrived and were buying ladders and they were carrying big cameras and these things.

“I sold many, I have many more at the back, very popular the big one for £59, but I don’t know what started it.”
