At London College of Fashion's graduate catwalk show, the backstage beauty scene pre-showdown was pretty hectic. It was stiflingly hot but the atmosphere among students, models, hair and makeup artists (and all in between) was bright and buzzy - this was their moment to really shine.
Across the 49 student collections Creative Director Rob Philips had requested a natural, dishevelled look - fresh faced makeup and undone tresses. Head Educator at Bumble & Bumble, Mark Coates, said the concept behind hair for the show (both women's and men's) was to look "lived in" with effortless texture: "Imagine waking up, rolling out of bed and having that natural greasy look."
Product wise it was all about Thickening Hairspray, Thickening Full Form Mousse and their Semisumo Pomade which created high shine, low hold finish. The prominent look for the girls was long messy tresses, middle partings and hair tucked behind ears - ears on show was a big thing.
As for make-up, Senior Artist, Pablo Rodriguez said the look was all about keeping to natural skin tones using nude shades of foundation and powder. The eyebrows were then brushed backwards with the MAC Brow Set in clear to enhance the dishevelled look. Simple and completely effective.
