The Tour De France is a cruel playground at times, as New Zealand rider Jack Bauer found out to his cost on Stage 19.
Team Garmin's Bauer ended up with a cut-up face after he crashed in to a barbed wire fence.
He looked to be in agony after the incident between Bourg-d'Oisans and Le Grand-Bornand in the French Alps.
Luckily, there were plenty of medical staff on hand to help the bloodied cyclist who was taken off the mountain.
