Food Developer Emily Day

Emily Day has been working in the Organix kitchen as a food developer for the last six years, and spends her days researching, developing and tasting healthy new foods and recipes for children. Emily's love of food started at a very young age when she used to bake in the kitchen with her mum. Her passion is now to encourage children to grow up with a lifelong love of good food, which fits nicely with Organix's No Junk Promise.

Describe your cooking style in three words:

Comforting, simple, rustic

The weirdest thing I've ever eaten is...

Snails

In my cupboard you will always find...

Tins of tomatoes, herbs and spices, Arborio rice, pasta, cracked black pepper, balsamic vinegar, olive oil, pesto.

What would you cook for the Queen?

Oooh tricky question. I think I would make the Queen afternoon tea which is one of my favourite things to make and eat. Tiny sandwiches, cakes, pastries and fresh slightly warm scones with homemade strawberry jam and clotted cream.

I would tell parents of fussy eaters...

Not to panic. I think all children go through a fussy stage with food. I would advise them to try and get their children to engage more with food both preparing and helping with cooking. I would encourage them to try and get their children and taste new foods and if they don't like it first time to keep trying.

My guilty food pleasure is...

Fish and chips by the seaside

My most memorable food experience (so far) is...

eating at The Fat Duck, it was amazing!

For my last meal I would eat...

Slow cooked beef stew with herb dumplings

I would never, ever eat...

Burgers from a burger van

When I'm home alone I cook...

Fish, as my boyfriend doesn't like it

If I had to eat one thing for the rest of my life it would be...

Pesto pasta

My kitchen is always...

Clean and tidy. My kitchen is very small so I like to keep it free from clutter.

Number one on my foodies bucket list is...

To have a big country style kitchen with lots of work top space and a large dining table to cook big dinners for family and friends

My must have kitchen gadget is...

My slow cooker, though I have a small kitchen and try to keep my work top free from clutter I make exception for my slow cooker!
