Julia Roberts Talks Meryl Streep And Why She Never Googles Herself To Marie Claire

Why Doesn't Julia Roberts Google Herself?

Julia Roberts has spoken of her respect for fellow actress Meryl Streep ahead of their new film, 'August: Osage County', hitting cinema screens.

In a new interview with Marie Claire, the 46-year-old revealed that Meryl was 'even cooler' than she imagined her to be when they first met.

"I had many imaginary conversations with Meryl about working together," she told the magazine. "When a person goes from being on a pedestal in your mind, to even cooler, better, and more fabulous up close, you get to understand them a little more intimately.”

The 'Pretty Woman' star also confessed that she's not a fan of social media and resists Googling herself to avoid reading negative comments.

“It’s kind of like cotton candy," she said of social media. "It looks so appealing and you just can’t resist getting in there, and then you just end up with sticky fingers and it lasted an instant.

“I have too much potential for collapse [to Google herself]. There’s an anonymity that makes people feel safe to participate in hatefulness.

"I like a good old-fashioned fistfight if people are pissed off at each other. I just feel like if you’re really mad and want to have a fight, then put your dukes up.”

Julia Roberts appears on the cover of Marie Claire’s December issue on news stands 19 November. www.marieclaire.com
