Boris Johnson has admitted to wondering what his life would be like if he was "stonkingly rich".
Writing in the Telegraph today about how much the super-rich contribute to Britain, the London Mayor asks his readers: "I just wonder, a bit, what it is like to be so stonkingly rich, and I wonder, as the rest of us have wondered down the ages – whether you can really expect to be any happier for having so much dosh."
The London Mayor did congratulate the super-rich for paying huge amounts in tax, suggesting the 10 biggest payers should automatically get knighthoods as "tax heroes".
But does Johnson have a convincing claim to only look on at the riches of the super wealthy in wonder?
Sonia Purnell, author of the biography "Just Boris: A Tale of Blond Ambition", told the Huffington Post UK: "Boris has always been fascinated by the super-wealthy, and has since he attended Eton enjoyed mixing with people much richer than he is, such as Earl Spencer, as well as the finer things in life.
"His holidays - notably luxury safaris in India and Africa - are notoriously lavish. He has also consistently courted the super-rich as a politician over the years, some of whom have subsequently opened up their chequebooks and backed his electoral campaigns."
Here's just how "stonkingly rich" Boris Johnson could be...
