While this video may have been created more than a year ago, we were pleased to see it resurface on Upworthy recently.
The message, which uses The Black Dog to expose the truth about living with depression, remains as pertinent as ever.
As narrator (writer and illustrator Matthew Johnstone) clearly outlines, depression is something that can stay with us for a lifetime - like a loyal black dog - the key is how we deal with it.
"At its worst, depression can be a frightening, debilitating condition," reads the video description.
"Millions of people around the world live with depression. Many of these individuals and their families are afraid to talk about their struggles, and don't know where to turn for help. However, depression is largely preventable and treatable. Recognising depression and seeking help is the first and most critical towards recovery."
