The people of Twickenham are facing a damp weekend after high tides caused the river Thames to burst its banks, flooding the West London suburb on Friday. Cars were left submerged, while residents struggled to cross roads and pathways.
Particularly affected was the stretch of river between Putney Bridge and Teddington Weir, and with continued rainfall forecast the flows could remain at unusually high levels for several days.
