Actor Tom Sizemore has issued a grovelling apology to his ex, Elizabeth Hurley, after falsely claiming that she had an affair with the former US President, Bill Clinton.
The British actress and model took to Twitter yesterday to strenuously deny the allegations that were made by Sizemore on a tape recording obtained by a US website.
"Ludicrously silly stories about me & Bill Clinton. Totally untrue. In the hands of my lawyers. Yawn," she wrote.

She also thanked fans for their support after the claims were exposed as a pack of lies, tweeting: “It’s been a tough couple of months in many ways- thanks to all my friends & family for your unwavering support & kindness.
She added: “Thank you very much for your (mostly) very nice comments on what has been a pretty gruesome day x”
Shortly after the story broke, Tom Sizemore appeared on Huffington Post Live with his lawyer where he admitted the claims were false and were made as he battled to overcome his drug addiction.
“I’m not denying I said those things," he said. "It's an old video and they are the rantings of a guy, and it has been chronicled, who had a very severe drug problem.
“It’s old tape. I wasn’t willingly video taped but those were the kind of folks I was hanging around with back before I went to celebrity rehab and started to get straightened out.
“I wasn’t in the best of shape.”

After apologising to both Elizabeth Hurley and the Clintons, Sizemore then admitted he wasn't even sure if the actress and former President even knew each other.
“I do apologise to her for any hurt I may have caused her or the Clintons.
“I have no idea if Hurley and Clinton know each other.
“ I’ve never met former President Bill Clinton and I’ve never known Bill Clinton to know Miss Hurley.”
