Flying non-stop across America powered only by the sun was impressive enough but this rather wide plane is about to do the entire globe.
It's not going to be a quick flight - Solar impulse 2 has a top speed of 88mph and has to land occasionally so the two pilots can switch seats/toilet.
Bertrand Piccard and André Borschberg will take approximately 20 days to complete their epic trip in the 240 feet wide beast covered in 17,000 solar panels.
It will be a massive achievement - a spirit of adventure started in 1924 when four pilots flew around the world in 175 days.
The attempt will take place in 2015, the result of 12 years of research, tests and development.
