Members of the ‘Coronation Street’ cast have received new contracts, complete with bumper pay rises, according to reports.
The show’s bosses are reportedly worried that many of their stars could be considering whether to leave the show, so they’ve made new deals with 14 actors in order to make sure there isn’t a “mass exodus”.
A show insider has reportedly told the paper that the cast were “shocked” by the TV bosses bold move.
“But everyone was surprised when they decided to renew 14 contracts at once. It was quite a dramatic move, and reflects how keen they are to secure a host of cast members who they see as real assets.”
A number of the show’s biggest stars have called time on their ‘Corrie’ careers in recent months, including Michelle Keegan who recently filmed her final scenes as Tina McIntyre.
Fan favourites Michelle Collins, Sue Johnston, Chris Gascoyne and Philip Lowrie have also all quit the show this year.
